Turning big data into big business
Data from digital networks can be a powerful tool for finding markets, attracting foreign investors and mapping skills migration between countries, economic attachés learned at a recent seminar hosted by the business networking company LinkedIN.
Addressing members of the AERL, LinkedIN’s MD for the EMEA Region Ariel Eckstein explained how trade and investment promotion agencies could harness the data from 250 million members of the professional global network to target investors and markets in more than 200 countries.
LinkedIN’s Talent Solutions Director David Cohen showed economic attachés how data was able identify skills gaps in an economy by tracing skills migration into and out of a country, making it a potentially valuable policy tool.
Marketing Solutions Director Joshua Graff told attachés how development agencies were using LinkedIN tools to engage a targeted audience with content marketing to attract FDI and find new markets for their products.
