British embassy worker jailed

Hossein Rassam, a locally employed political advisor at the British Embassy who was arrested and tried for harming national security after the disputed presidential elections in Iran, has been jailed for four years. Foreign Secretary David Miliband called on the Iranian authorities to overturn the sentence, saying it represented “an attack against the entire diplomatic community in Iran and important principles are at stake.”
