Pope must be 'good manager'

A former UK envoy to the Holy See who observed the election of Pope Benedict XVI says the priority for the next head of the Catholic Church will be to “get a proper grip on the Roman Curia.”

While the election of a pope hailing from Africa, Latin America or Asia would be good for the Church, the ex-envoy said more important for the cardinals gathering at the Vatican for the papal conclave would be to elect a “good manager” who could undertake curial reform.
