Much In Common
Guests at the Brunei National Day were treated to traditional music, choir song and some fine food as the country celebrated the 32nd year of its Independence. “We are blessed that Brunei continues to progress,” High Commissioner Maj Gen (Rtd) Dato Haji Aminuddin Ihsan said in his address.
While High Commissioner Ihsan lauded Brunei’s relationship with UK he said ties could be even closer in the fields of trade, business and tourism. In his speech Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps Alistair Harrison underlined the role the two countries play as members of an important organisation. “Before someone thinks I’m being controversial – it’s not the European Union,” he joked. “I’m talking about the Commonwealth where we enjoy working together despite our different traditions. That symbolises our togetherness.”
