The Magnificent Six
Over 1000 years of combined independence was celebrated in some style as six Central American countries joined forces for their annual combined National Day party. Guatemala, Honduras,
El Salvador, Nicaragua and Costa Rica marked 196 years of independence and Belize 36 years as heads of mission joined each other on stage to toast their sovereignty. “You have to believe in Central America and Belize – great countries without nuclear weapons who are open to everyone,” said Honduran Ambassador and Dean of the Latin American Corps, Ivan Romero-Martinez. “We have a great
commitment to working together for world peace, human rights, democracy and common wellbeing.” Alistair Harrison, Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps, added: “This is a great example to all of us of regional cooperation that has been extremely successful.”
