All change at CFAB
Diplomatic spouses attending this year’s CFAB Afternoon Tea learned of changes ahead for the charitable organisation. CFAB Chair Kumari Blakely announced that the Spring Fair would be discontinued after 56 years due to rising costs and falling revenues. Thanking the diplomatic community for their support, she said she hoped the corps would support the charity in new ways. She added that the charity, through its international work, valued its close links with the diplomatic community.
CFAB International President Douglas Lewis admitted he was sad so see the end of the fair but said it reflected changing times, where many heads of mission were women and many diplomatic spouses now had careers of their own.
The Q&A generated some great ideas which spouses discussed over a delicious Afternoon Tea, laid on by Mrs Dalal Al Duwaisan, wife of the Ambassador of Kuwait.
