A Fair to remember
Kensington Town Hall became a sea of vibrant colours – and the best place in London for a bargain – as the Commonwealth Countries League (CCL) held their annual Commonwealth Fair. With proceeds going to the Education Fund (CGEF), which supports the education of disadvantaged girls in the Commonwealth, visitors thronged to stalls to buy everything from South African wine and Kenyan beer to Nigerian hats, Ghanaian olive oil and Cameroonian artworks.
The CCL Fair committee, which this year co-hosted the event with the Bangladesh High Commission, made sure everyone was entertained throughout the day, assembling an energetic line-up of performers, from drummers to traditional dancers. And when visitors had had their share of retail therapy, they could follow their noses upstairs to the famous Food Hall where tables creaked under local delicacies – giving Londoners a true taste of the Commonwealth.
