Consular alert for festive season

Christmas is a busy time for consuls so the Metropolitan Police Service has announced they will be on call for the FCO from 12 December to 15 January 2012 inclusive.

In the event of a consular emergency – such as a natural disaster or a criminal attack – during this period, the Metropolitan Police Service Family Advisory Team will assist in the incident which, if of a large scale, could lead to numerous Family Liaison Officer deployments.

Should a foreign national be involved in such an incident in the UK, a Family Liaison Officer will be deployed to the family and appropriate contact will be made through the Family Liaison Officer to the relevant mission or consulate.
