Acting High Commissioner Charles introduces Secretary General Scotland
The new head of the Family
Heads of Mission and friends of the Commonwealth gathered at the Dominica High Commission to welcome
the incoming Commonwealth Secretary General Baroness Scotland. Addressing the assembled guests Acting High Commissioner Janet Charles introduced the Commonwealth’s first woman Secretary General as “a daughter of Dominica” who would be a unifying figure for the Commonwealth.
In her speech, Baroness Scotland said the Commonwealth was “a family of nations” that shared common aspirations and values among its many diverse peoples.
