DPG boosts security at Syrian Embassy

The Diplomatic Protection Group has bolstered its security outside the Syrian Embassy after the embassy was subjected to an attack during a violent protest on 4 February. Five men were held after they gained entry to the embassy in Belgrave Square and a sixth was arrested for assaulting a police officer.

Windows on the first floor were smashed and pink paint was thrown on the building. Diplomats now report seeing riot police vehicles deployed in the Belgrave Square area every weekend as a precaution.
