Embassy Induction Seminar 2012 Review

Record breaking crowds attend Induction Seminar

A capacity crowd of almost 200 new diplomats and their families from 85 missions attended Embassy Event’s Annual Diplomatic Induction Seminar for an essential introduction to diplomacy in London and a packed day of networking. Envoys started the day with a Living in London expo where they could meet trusted diplomatic suppliers after which they received briefings from the Marshal, the Dean, the FCO and the Diplomatic Protection Group. A Living in London panel gave them got tips on finding their bearings in the capital before they broke up for lunch. The afternoon session included a series of four thematic workshops where diplomats could learn more about politics and the media, consular affairs, trade and economics or culture and education in the UK. The day ended with a convivial networking reception and prize giving – but judging by the number of new friends and contacts made, no diplomat left the seminar empty-handed.
