EU neighbourhood policy needs a “sense of direction” the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini told an audience of diplomats and foreign policy experts at Chatham House.
Growing threats on Europe’s Eastern and Southern borders called for more strategic thinking, she said: “We need to stop jumping from crisis to crisis…Our policy is disconnected. We need to connect the dots.”
Mogherini said for the EU to be a superpower required unity among member states. “Unity is [the EU’s] greatest strength.”
She also stressed the important role Britain played in an outward-looking EU that was ready to take on global challenges.
