A conference to help consular officers provide better assistance to citizens and diaspora communities in crisis

The UK is one of the busiest consular posts in the world, with diaspora groups spread across the UK requiring travel documents, legalisation services, citizen services, immigration and international family legal advice and special consular assistance to their prisoners or nationals affected by major crises, crime, ill health or death. London is also a consular hub for many small missions, with consuls providing services to their nationals in neighbouring European countries.

Changes to UK immigration policy post Brexit require consuls to seek advice from legal practitioners who can offer assistance to their nationals involved in complex immigration and nationality cases.

Many migrant families living in Britain also mean more international family cases for consuls to handle which may become even more complex after Brexit. Consuls, police and legal attachés may also assist their nationals affected by cross-border crime, such as international slavery, as well as extradition cases and mutual legal assistance.

With third country nationals dispersed throughout Britain, visa staff are under pressure to issue high volumes of visas. Balancing the increasing demand for both security and service delivery means consuls are always on the lookout for companies who can provide cutting-edge consular tech from hardware and software as well as flexible outsourcing, mobile and digital solutions to help them issue secure documents speedily, at low cost and in remote locations across the UK.
