Hollywood legends party at Winfield House

US Ambassador and Mrs Susman mingled with greats of the silver screen as they hosted a reception at Winfield House to launch the Sundance Film Festival in the UK, the first international offshoot of the independent movie event.

Double Oscar winner and Sundance founder Robert Redford was the Guest of Honour and he was joined by British Academy Award winner, Sir Ben Kingsley.

Speaking at the reception Ambassador Susman hailed Sundance’s “maverick spirit” adding that it was a “perfect fit” for London.

DPG security seminar focuses on Olympics plans

Embassy Security Liaison Officers received an update on security plans for the Olympic Games from the International Liaison Unit at the recent Diplomatic Protection Group Seminar.

They also received briefings on the prevention of ID fraud, as well as the current terrorism threat and security issues, including hostile reconnaissance and the handling of suspect packages.

Chief Superintendent Andy Tarrant from the DPG said: “The Diplomatic Security Seminar provides the DPG with an opportunity to brief the Diplomatic Community on important security issues and to provide diplomats with an overview of the role of the DPG and the services we provide. This year the seminar was an opportunity to provide our community with information on the forthcoming Olympic Games.”
