Best friends forever
Ministers, parliamentarians, ambassadors and friends of Kuwait turned out in their droves to congratulate the Ambassador of Kuwait Khaled Al Duwaisan at this year’s Kuwait National Day – an extra special this year as Kuwait and Britain celebrate the 120th anniversary of their Friendship Treaty, signed in 1899.
That friendship is embodied by the hugely popular Dean of the Diplomatic Corps who never tired as he welcomed around a thousand guests, before inviting them to enjoy his country’s big day with a feast to remember.
A magnificent spread included a carvery, tables creaking under seafood and an ice cream counter for desert. And for a true taste of the Middle East, everything was washed down with a refreshing cup of tea, as the diplomatic community toasted Kuwait’s independence and one of London’s most respected diplomats.
