Mobilising Girls’ Education – The Role of Diplomacy

The education of girls is key to the empowerment of women. As we seek to ‘build back better’ after the covid pandemic, which has caused major disruption to education, and in the run-up to the UK’s Presidency of the G7 and the Global Education Summit, the Women In Diplomacy Network, in partnership with the Embassies of Georgia and Latvia, will host a webinar discussing the role of diplomacy in mobilising girls’ education on a global scale.

The event will be introduced by Wendy Morton MP, Minister for the European Neighbourhood and the Americas at the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). Keynote addresses will be given by Helen Grant MP, the Prime Minister’s Special Envoy for Girls’ Education; and Alicia Herbert, the Foreign Secretary’s Gender Envoy and Director the Education, Gender and Equalities Department at the FCDO, after which there will be a panel discussion with senior female diplomats.
