Nepal, naturally
The colourful festive bunting was up at the Nepalese residence as Ambassador Durga Bahadur Subedi welcomed dignitaries to his National Day at the Kensington Palace Garden residence.
The day’s guest speakers, Virendra Sharma, Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Nepal, and Gareth Bayley, Director for South Asia at the Foreign Office, joined the Ambassador on the red carpet and were led into the reception by a bagpipe player.
Calling Nepal a “land of unparalleled natural beauty and cultural diversity” is his address, Ambassador Subedi highlighted how much the mutually rewarding bilateral relationship between Nepal and the United Kingdom has grown over the span of two centuries.
Guests enjoyed a Nepali cultural programme featuring traditional dancing before a Nepalese feast was served up – including scrumptious local delicacy Jeri – all adding to a reception showcasing the best of Nepal.
