Palmerston is big in Japan

The FCO’s resident cat Palmerston has done wonders for UK-Japanese ties. First he Tweeted that he was learning Japanese – and posted a message in perfect Japanese, saying: “Hello people of Japan! Are there any mice around?” which got 2.1k retweets. Then he charmed the new Japanese Ambassador, who presented him with an origami toy. Domo arigato Mr Ambassdor!
