Poetic charity

Departing South African High Commissioner Lindiwe Mabuza bid farewell to her colleagues in the Women in Diplomatic Service in poetic style with a reading from her latest anthology of poems at a fundraising dinner that raised £800 for a township school in South Africa.

The Ephes Mamkeli school is in the Wattville township where the ANC leader Oliver Tambo is buried and was supported by the late Mike Terry, a teacher and legendary anti-apartheid activist who died recently while training for a fundraising marathon in aid of the school, which was twinned with the Alexandra Park School in North London, where Terry was head of science (to see photos please click in court circuit, and then WDS – Poetic farewell or click here).
