The Embassy Group, a division of Character Publishing, welcomes you to embassymagazine.com, our digital information network. These are our terms and conditions for use of the network, which apply whenever you access the network, on whatever device. In these terms and conditions, when we say embassymagazine.com, we mean this network, regardless of how you access it.

By using the network, you are deemed to have accepted these conditions.

4. Disclaimer of liability

6. Submitting graphical material and photography for publication on embassymagazine.com
When you send a photograph or other graphical material to us you do so in accordance with these Terms of Service.

This means that you hereby agree that you have taken the photograph(s) you have sent to us or you have permission from or are authorised by the owner of the photograph(s) to send it (them) to us, and you are granting us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to publish or otherwise use the photograph(s) in any way and at any time we want on the embassymagazine.com web site.

Selected photographs and graphical material will be published at the discretion of the editor and you will not be paid, even if your photograph(s) is (are) published.

We may cut, edit, crop or arrange your photograph(s) or graphic as we think fit to appear on the embassymagazine.com web site, and we may remove your photograph(s) or graphics at any time.

Your name will be published alongside your photograph(s) or graphic, but we may edit or delete any comments which you submit along with your photograph(s) or graphic.

7. Submitting text for publication on embassymagazine.com

(iv) you warrant that the material you submit is not obscene, offensive, defamatory of any person or otherwise illegal

(v) you agree not to post material which is deliberately intended to upset other users

(vi) you acknowledge that any breach of these warranties may cause us damage or loss and you agree to indemnify us in full and permanently against any third party liabilities, claims, costs, loss or damage we incur as a result of publishing material you submit to us, including consequential losses.

(vii) we reserve the right to remove your access to individual services completely if we believe you are abusing the services in any way.

8. Data protection
If you have indicated on the registration form that you wish to receive direct marketing material, your personal details will be included in a database compiled for direct marketing purposes. From time to time, you may receive direct marketing information from us or from third parties.

If you have indicated that you wish to receive email updates only from embassymagazine.com, your personal details will be included on a database compiled for this specific purpose.

If you have indicated that you wish to receive direct marketing material or email updates from embassymagazine.com but subsequently change your mind, you should notify the administration team at admin@embassymagazine.com. As soon after this as is reasonably practicable, we will remove your name details from the relevant database.

9. Variations
These terms may be varied from time to time. Please ensure that you review these terms and conditions regularly as you will be deemed to have accepted a variation if you continue to use the site after it has been posted.

10. Force majeure

11. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
This agreement is governed by English law and the parties agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

1. To ensure that only diplomats, locally engaged staff and subscribers by special application have access to our services.

2. To provide services tailored towards the various diplomatic disciplines.

3. To use anonymous details about our users to sell appropriate advertising space on the site. This might mean showing an advertiser how many users we have on the site; it does not mean sharing an individual’s details with an advertiser. Where we collect registration information from an individual, we will never share that individual’s information with a third party, including an advertiser, without that user’s explicit permission.

Our principles
We are committed to protecting your privacy. Our policy can be summarised in one sentence: we will not share your information with others without your prior consent. We have also established the following four principles:

1. We will continue to invest in high-quality security and do our utmost to protect user privacy through the appropriate use of the latest security technology.

2. We will respect your email privacy. You will not receive unsolicited mail from third parties screened by the Embassy Group unless you have agreed to this. We will, however, mail you occasionally with requests for news updates and information.

3. We will not pass on any individual user details (including your email address) unless we have your prior consent.

4. Otherwise, we will only share anonymous aggregate statistics about our users, sales and traffic patterns with our advertisers or sponsors.

Should we elect to change our privacy policy we will post the changes here. Where the changes are significant, we may also choose to email all our registered users with the new details.

What information do we collect?
The minimum information we need to register a user is an email address, diplomatic mission or organisation address, job title, and password. This is to help us provide specific services for the various diplomatic disciplines and to ensure that only diplomats, locally engaged members of staff at diplomatic missions and other subscribers by special application have access to the site.

Your responses also help us attract sponsors in order to keep the site and the various services offered by the Embassy Group free. We do not share this information with third parties unless you have specifically consented to this.

How does embassymagazine.com protect customer information?
We have invest in a secure website to protect user privacy. UK Data Protection Legislation means we follow strict security procedures in the storage and disclosure of information which you have given us, to prevent unauthorised access.

Will embassymagazine.com disclose the information it collects to outside parties?
embassymagazine.com will not sell, trade or rent your personal information to others unless you have given us your permission. With your permission we will only share the information with carefully chosen, reputable and trustworthy third parties.
