Blooming relations
The heart of London was turned into a little slice of Bangkok as Thailand celebrated its national day with an evening of Thai classical music, local cuisine and beguiling traditional dance. As guests meandered between stalls serving Singha beer and snacks from the best Thai restaurants in the capital, they were entertained by the Shrewsbury Four, a musical quartet of Thai students in the UK.
In his speech, Ambassador Pisanu Suvanajata stressed the importance of the relationship between Thailand and the UK, which goes back four centuries. “The partnership has been prosperous on all levels,” he said. “Government to government, business to business and most importantly – people to people.”
The evening was capped off by the Bunditpatanasilpa Institute who performed a beautiful ‘Flower Dance’ underlining the two countries’ blossoming relationship.
