UK’s EU Ambassador leaves post
Sir Jon Cunliffe, Britain’s Permanent Representative to the EU, has been recalled from Brussels after serving less than two years in the job to become the next Deputy Governor of the Bank of England.
A former Treasury boss, Sir Jon was special adviser to Gordon Brown at the time of the global financial crisis.
More recently, Sir Jon was also involved in the negotiations for the Greek bailout plan.
His knowledge of the EU will prove useful in the months ahead as the EU moves towards creating a banking union.
