Strength in unity
In the spirit of unity, the Ambassadors of Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica hosted a joint reception celebrating their 195th anniversary of independence – and in the spirit of integration the High Commissioner of Belize joined the party to mark her country’s 35th anniversary of Independence.
The Doyen of the GRULAC group, the Ambassador of Honduras Mr Ivan Romero-Martinez said the region, through the Central American Integration System (SICA) was working to ensure “progress and collective development” of 60 million citizens. Solving problems peacefully is in stark contrast to earlier decades of conflict and the only lingering rivalry in evidence at this party was over which country produces the best rum!
