Diplomat Spouses Club London Elects New Board Committee
The Diplomat Spouses Club London (DSCL) is thrilled to announce the election of its new Board Committee members for the 2024-2025 term as the club prepares to celebrate its 10th anniversary
In an Extraordinary General Assembly held online on 18 March 2024, four additional board members were elected, completing the board with eight members. The election was conducted with unanimous support from all members, reflecting a strong consensus within the group.
Under the DSCL Constitution, the Board Committee must consist of six to eight active members to be considered complete. With this latest election, the DSCL board is now fully constituted for the upcoming term.
The newly elected Board Committee members of DSCL and the represented countries are:
Mrs Maria Asuncion Cancela Silva – Mexico (President)
Mr Fisnik Musa – Kosovo (Vice-President)
Mrs Jenny Löpitz – Germany (Treasurer)
Mrs Natacha Moeba Kunge – Belgium
Mrs Isabel Rodriguez – Colombia
Mrs Rizki Dwijayanti – Indonesia
Mrs Viona Moudiani Putri – Indonesia
Mrs Motoko Higuchi – Japan
Speaking to the Embassy Network, the incoming President, Maria Asuncion Cancela Silva, said: “The DSCL has a new board, but the mission remains the same since the foundation of the club, 10 years ago, as stated in the DSCL Constitution: To continue providing spouses and partners the opportunity to network, meet or collaborate with each other and enjoy cultural, educational, social events and collaborating with other diplomatic associations.”
Taking on the role of DSCL President was “an honour but also a responsibility which brings with it a lot of satisfaction,” said Mrs Cancela Silva. In particular she was looking forward to reaching out and collaborating with other members of the international diplomatic family here in London.
Diverse talents
Introducing the new Board members, Mrs Cancela Silva said: “We are an energetic team, ready to share our professional skills and to learn new ones, to support each other and to enjoy the experience together. And that not only makes a good team but also a good friendship. Teamwork is essential in this journey. And I am sure that we all will be very good travel companions.”
The new Board reflects the values of inclusivity and diversity of the club, and members bring a wealth of experiences, having previously served in their respective home states. Their commitment to fostering cultural exchange and community engagement resonates deeply with the core values of the DSCL.
As the club celebrates its 10th anniversary, the new board members are eager to play a pivotal role in shaping the future direction of DSCL, with activities and events that promote friendship, cultural understanding and cooperation within the diplomatic community and institutions in London.
Home away from home
Extending a warm welcome to all diplomatic spouses, the new DSCL President said: “We are all foreigners outside our homeland. But arriving in a new city where we don’t know anyone, or even where we don’t speak the language, doesn’t mean that we can’t feel at home and make new friends. We share circumstances, interchange experiences and we learn about other cultures. And the club is like an open-door house to every diplomatic spouse who would like to join.”
The DSCL encourages all diplomatic spouses and partners to apply for membership, recognising the valuable knowledge and leadership they bring to the organisation.
