Georgian joy
The new Georgian Ambassador Tamar Beruchashvili toasted her first National Day in London – and Georgia’s 25th year of regaining independence – with an evening of high fashion, fine food, folk music – and of course Georgian wine.
The guest of honour was Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili who called on his compatriots to be “engaged, creative and willing to take bold decisions… to build a genuine, liberal democracy in our country.” Prime Minister Kvirikashvili thanked the UK for being a supportive shoulder during his country’s development. Lauding the countries’ close military, economic and education ties, he added: “Georgia is committed to further co-operating with the UK based on common values with the aim to promote peace, security and stability throughout the world.”
