Vyshyvanka Day
Call it ‘dress-up Friday’ – the Ambassador of Ukraine Natalia Galibarenko and embassy staff dispensed their suits to wear their most colourful vyshyvanka (traditional costumes) for Vyshyvanka Day. Whether it’s the Hutsul of the Carpathian Mountains, embroidered Bukovyna blouses or the festive fez headdresses of the Crimean Tatars, it’s a chance for Ukrainians all over the world unite in celebration their heritage – and the day has become so popular it’s even made the pages of the fashion Bible Vogue.
In London guests sampled Ukrainian festive food while enjoying an exhibition of art and fashion by renowned designer Anna Ravliuc.
